The FDA is beginning to release imported orange juice that had been detained after detection of the fungicide Carbendazim in finished juice products. No recall will be issued, but surveillance is ongoing and an import ban will stand until the completion of their investigation. Carbendazim has not been approved for use on citrus fruits in the United States, but is legal in a number of other countries and for use in the United States on other crops. FDA spokeswoman, Siobhan Delancey, has indicated that imported juice with Carbendazim detected above 10 ppb will be destroyed.
